BACK IN RIO
At 5:30 we were at the Modern Cathedral but it had already closed, so I took exterior photos only. See day 7 for interior shots. Regardless of the time of day the parking lot outside the church seems to be full. Perhaps it's for public parking.
To paraphrase a Goggle website, "Legalization of Street Art in Rio," in 2009 the Brazilian government passed a progressive law decriminalizing street art and it now can be done if with the consent of the owners. There is a distinction between tagging (defacing and vandalism) and street art style (showing an interest in aesthetics and community.)
